Saba can be found in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. The volcanic island, which was first seen by Christopher Columbus in 1493, served as a refuge for pirates for a long time. The dreaded captain Henry Morgan also found here his home; and his legend and rum are still alive on the island. SABA is a beautiful and hospitable island. SABA accepts everyone who is coming in peace to take a break from the stress and hustle and bustle of civilization. The island is one of the TOP 10 diving destinations in the world.
Saba – Dutch Caribbean
The island belongs to the Netherlands and is part of the Dutch Caribbean.
Nowadays English is spoken here as the official language. Saba is located in the northwestern part of the Caribbean Sea, 30 km from the island Saint Martin. Saba takes up 13 square kilometers. An uninhabited island called Green Island which is located north of Saba also belongs to the island.
The capital of Saba is The Bottom. The island is inhabited by 2.000 residents inclusding more or less 500 medical students from the USA, Canada, and Europe studying at the local medical university (Saba University of Medicine).
Saba, including its underwater park (Saba Marine Park) is a nature reserve listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

If you arrive on Saba by air, you’re up for an adventure. The runway is just 396 meters long and it is reported to be the shortest commercial runway in the world. Just the journey to the island is an experience of a lifetime. The landing is exceptional, exciting, and short as the runway itself.
In 2017 Saba’s Juancho E Irausquin airport was named the world’s most scenic airport approach in a global survey conducted by PrivateFly, a booking platform for private jet charters.

Saba has 16 marked hiking trails that will lead you to places with breathtaking views of the steep cliffs, surrounding islands, and the endless ocean. Feel the air and admire a rich green color of the tropical rainforest. After climbing the marked hiking trail to Mount Scenery, you will reach the top of the volcano, Mount Scenery. at the altitude of 877 m. On a clear day you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the entire island‘s scenery and with peace of mind. Hiking on Saba is simply unique and safe at the same time as nothing stings or bites you.
